Staying cool during these summer months can seem close to impossible. However, throughout the years, we have noted a few ways to stay cool and hydrated. Here’s how you can still look and feel like you have it together at a summer wedding.
Stay hydrated at summer weddings:
Summer temperatures in Asheville, North Carolina can range from the high seventies to the low nineties. The mountain hair and breezes make the weather feel perfect. Summer wedding are bound to have a ton of sunshine and possible rain.
Outdoor weddings in the USA can be rough to plan due to unexpected weather issues. But Asheville’s weather may just be your best bet. Because we can have higher elevation than other states, we tend to recommend tents.
A tent rental for your wedding can be a great canvas to work with. It is no exaggeration when we say you can have any themed or styled wedding in a tent. This is a great comfort for brides and grooms planning an outdoor summer wedding.
Not only are tents great for cover from rain, it is a great option for guests seeking shade. Quiet, inconspicuous fans can be mounted to provide proper air circulation as well. Tents are recommended by most experienced wedding planners.
Here comes the sun:
Preparing for a heat wave is not exactly possible. Mother nature takes its course. We do not believe there are many couples or wedding parties that want to feel sweaty on the wedding day. After all the effort of getting your suit or dress tailored, hair done up, and make-up perfected, sweating just is not on the schedule.
There are ways to avoid sweating on your wedding day, so read further for the latest tips. Whether you are having your ceremony and reception indoors or outdoors, summer wedding day temperatures make it difficult to remain looking presentable. Your top priority on the day of the wedding is staying hydrated.
This tip goes for couples getting married in any month. Nerves and anxiety can really creep up because of all the expectations, emotions, and money involved in this momentous occasion. Staying hydrated can help with a multitude of issues.
For one, being hydrated helps with anxiety. For those that are emotional, staying hydrated helps after you’ve lost all of those tears- happy ones. Lastly, you certainly do not want a fainting spell especially for any of your elderly guests.
Start the celebration with water:
On a hot Carolina wedding day, it is convenient to start off your guests with a glass of iced water. Providing a simple table with matching linens and signage can go a long way. Perhaps offer three different fruit flavored waters and a regular ice water.
Offering a refreshing beverage even before the ceremony is thoughtful, elegant, and extremely practical gesture. Of course, you may have a bar already depending on your wishes, but keep in mind, alcohol will dehydrated you and your guests. It is also risky to serve beer or liquor so early in the festivities.
At this point, guests usually do not have any food offered, so it is necessary to offer water from the get-go. Cocktails with be served during cocktail hour anyhow. Spiked sparkling waters are extremely trendy right now.
Provide shade with a dual purpose:
You may consider offering these as they hydrate guests with the water portion of the alcoholic beverage. If you are not getting married in a tent or indoors, choose an area with ample shade. Guests will be in this area much longer than a bride or groom.
Guests and staff will be in the ceremony area long before the bride and groom’s walk down the aisle. Consider draping sheer fabric with stringed lights or flowers above the ceremony area. A canopy is always elegant, endearing, and keeps the area cool.
Some shade options can double as favors. For southern weddings, white umbrellas can provide shade. Plus, guests can keep them as favors. The umbrellas can be plain white or have the couple’s wedding date and initials added.
Clear umbrellas should be avoided because they actually create a greenhouse effect! Unless the theme is colorful and eccentric, all umbrellas should be one color. Of course, umbrellas are also smart to have just in case there is random rain.
Placing a wicker or silk fan on each seat is a picture-esqe and useful option for keeping guests cool. Wooden fans are subtly detailed with lace cut-outs and present a classic, bohemian touch. Paper parasols are also an alternative to umbrellas.
Don’t let the macho guests feel left out. Fedoras and cigars are classic essentials in Cuban celebrations, so why not incorporate these into your heat of the Havana themed wedding. Lastly, sunglasses are accommodating for outdoor summer weddings. Again, these can be used more than once and are not a waste of money.
Program fans are just as informative as they are sensible. Because they are printed, they can have the same prints or patters as the save-the-dates, invitations, and table numbers. Next week, we will share more ways to keep your guests cool provided by your Asheville wedding planner Mark and florist Bobby.
